A coaching session begins a bit like a catch-up: you sharing with me whatever is showing up in your life at this time. Sometimes that might be something difficult, like a relational situation, or may be it’s a struggle to choose between two different options. Perhaps you feel stuck creatively, or are navigating a health issue. You may even bring to the session a recent win, something joyful to celebrate, or sometimes you may begin with “I have no idea what to talk about”, ironically it is often these sessions that can be the most powerful..

When you share with me what is presenting for you, I have put aside anything I think I know about you, me, and coaching. It is from this loving and curious place I listen to you with deep attunement. I will likely then intuit a question that will help you deepen into what you have brought to the session. This deepening may help you clarify the kernel of what you have brought to the session, or it may bring you into more awareness of how it is showing up in your body. This unraveling will open up space for a new energy to enter…

Your own words or imagery will continue to inform my next questions which may invite you to visualize a memory, color, your inner mentor, recall music, or consider your leading values.

After exploring and marinating in the fruits of this we will then—from this new perspective—look back at what you first brought to the session and consider what you might not have seen initially. Often something new comes into view for you here.

From here I will then help you fan the flames of this new possibility and, if needed, we will explore your next steps to bring this into your life and ways that will support you.

Sometimes we may, at the end of a session, take time to appreciate any qualities that you cultivated during the session to carry forward as well.

What I have just shared is what a typical session tends to look like, yet a session may only be an aspect of the above or completely different. The main thing is that we are going with what is true for you and your wisdom, of which I am often left in awe of.
